There was a sudden silence and a feeling of shock as the world witnesses the passing of a great soul, the man dubbed as the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. This child prodigy of the 70’s has evolved and become one of the most respected icon in the music industry, His music touched a million souls. His life was a great big adventure that continues to inspire thousands of his fans and followers even he is no longer with us today.

So what can we learn from Michael Jackson that would help us become our own King in the MLM industry? How can we inspire people and touch people’s lives in a way that we too, may hopefully, get near to the kind of impact Jackson did with his won league of fans? Let’s look at four lessons MLM distributors can learn from the great Michael Jackson.

Lesson #1: Man with a Vision

Michael Jackson is a man with a vision. At the young age of 5 he began to entertain people and believed in giving the best every time he hit the stage. It doesn’t stop there. Michael Jackson believed in himself without a shadow of a doubt. He believed that he could break through this racial discrimination and capture the hearts and minds of people from all races and unite them through the power of music. His vision became a reality and Jackson became a musical legend.

Lesson #2: Breaking Barriers

Jackson doesn’t impose a glass ceiling that would stifle his true potential in the music industry. He refused to acknowledge that his music is only suitable for the blacks. When the Jackson 5 started their musical odyssey back in the 1970’s, the world was still shackled by silent racial barrier and segregation of music between the races. Jackson believed he has the talent and ability to entertain, amuse and inspire people with his own kind of music. He introduced a new wave of revolution that shattered the barriers between the black and the white music.

Lesson #3: Consistent Quality

Even when Michael has become a very successful entertainer and a multi-millionaire, his passion or excellence and quality doesn’t stop. He practiced endlessly before every single performance even to his last breath for the believed in giving the best shot in everything you do in life. This is one quality that MLM distributors can learn and emulate from the King of Pop.

Lesson #4: Fighter

This might be the most valuable legacy Michael jack son for us all. His enduring spirit and belief in his own ability propelled him to move forward and strive to improve his life for he better even when he’s 50 years old, frail, sickly and buried with a 500 dollars million in total debt. When other people were too busy speculating about his upcoming bankruptcy and his financial demise, Michael Jackson kept busy on the more important things-to take charge of his life and doing whatever he can to change it for the better. Even during his last breath, Jackson was still moving forward doing what he needed to do to save his empire-to prepare for a mega exposure worldwide show which could have helped save his empire and get him out of debt. Michael Jackson was a fighter and this is a very important trait all MLM distributors should possess if we want to learn the steps to success from the King of Pop.

The passing of Michael Jackson touched all of us on a deeper level, and the love and legacy he left behind will continue to live and inspire us all.

For example, if you are marketing a weight loss program, your target prospects or audience will be people who are interested in losing weight.  Or if you are market auto services, your target audience will be those who wish to purchase services for their automobiles.

An effective system is also a very important aspect in the growth of your MLM downline.  Whether or not you will be able to grow your MLM marketing business will be decided by whether or not your have an effective system.  Finding the right people and attracting them to you and your MLM business should be easier if your system has been set up effectively.

A person who wants to ensure that his MLM business will grow to the greatest levels must be very familiar with the telephone and the process of calling people, both one on one and conference calling.  Being able to speak with prospects and people who are interested in your product or service is the most crucial element in making sure your MLM business is successful.  When there are prospects who want to speak with you about your products or services, then a growing business becomes much easier to develop and maintain.  For example, if you spoke with twenty people a day with the intent of getting at least five of those people to become interested in your products or services, that is twenty-five new people a week into your business.

Being an excellent writer is a very good way to get people interested in what you are selling.  It would be better to enroll people into your business without having to meet them one on one and speak with them individually.  You can extrapolate that by being able to reach many people and give them all the information they need to draw their interest.  That can be done by using articles or blogs, but excellent writing skills will be a total necessity for this to work.  Nobody is going to read your pitch if you can’t spell or use grammar correctly.  If you can’t describe what you’re trying to sell, how will anyone be convinced to buy it?

Even though he had risen to the top in three companies, he had never raped or pillaged his former organizations, which is why is was so respectfully referred as The Ambassador of Network Marketing.

4. Pure Servant Leadership

The most valuable piece of gold was by far the fact I learned by his example that leading by serving was still cool.

Anytime Bob was at a conference, you would see his get a proud look on his face every time one of his leaders was up on stage receiving an award or passing on what he had been taught. Bob would smile and say “Now that is what it’s all about: leaving a legacy through the success of others.”

That one nugget of gold has allowed me to realize it’s all about others, and to never take myself to seriously.

Bob, you are more than my hero, you are a legend… We love you.

mlm downline retention problemIn multilevel marketing (MLM), your income is based not only on your actual product sales, but by the number of downline individuals you have working under you. In theory, the more downlines you have, the greater your passive revenue stream.

But too often, you work to create a good second or third tier only to have the marketers walk away. Those aren’t just individuals quitting; you’re losing a valuable investment. It is by far in your best interest to solve any retention problem in your downline.

Broken Dreams
MLM isn’t for everyone. Some MLM businesses heavily hype their program to make it seem amazingly simple and assure recruits that they will see thousands overnight. When the dreams don’t come true, the charm is gone and the person quits. To avoid broken dreams, avoid selling them in the first place. Sell the business plan, not empty promises.

Missing Motivation
Individuals are recruited to join a MLM program. You get them signed up and turn them loose. And they quit. They didn’t join up to be turned loose. They want guidance, advice and motivation. If you’re selling the program, you need to continue selling it until your downlines are seeing their own success and can begin to motivate others.

Other Opportunities
Other opportunities might pull marketers away. If they aren’t successful fast enough with one program, another might be worth a try. Again, simply motivate and remind your downlines that there is a payoff, and share some tricks and tips to help them find success and stick with it.

Comparisons
If Sally is making ten times less than Bob, she might become disillusioned and quit. Rather than letting Sally stew about why Bob’s doing so much better than she is, help her find the reasons. Improve her techniques and possibly even mirror what works for Bob. She’ll be feeling worthy for comparison in no time.

Laziness
Unfortunately, some people are just lazy or unmotivated. While these people can make decent employees, they don’t always make the best independent workers. If you find your downlines are simply unwilling to do what it takes, consider targeting different kinds of individuals as downlines or treat your existing ones like employees. Give the lazy members of your team goals and reminders about what to do each week, and they might just do it.

Unstructured
A MLM program can feel unstructured to someone unused to working on their own time. A downline can quit if they feel they can’t make heads or tails of their time and efforts. To prevent this, offer your downlines a handbook or schedule to help them structure their time and efforts most effectively.

Bullied
If management for a MLM program is too strict or aggressive, you can lose downlines. Bullying is rarely effective for anything long term, so if your upstream is constantly putting pressure on your downstream or the program guidelines are too strict or limiting, your downlines might simply decide it’s not worth the effort.

Poor Program
Like all things there are good programs and poor ones. If you’re in a poor program that doesn’t offer enough incentives or makes things more complicated than necessary, your downlines are constantly at risk. Find a quality program that is comfortable and profitable before building a downline.

Reality Check
Sometimes downlines live in a dream of passive revenue for too long and then balk when they realize they are salespeople. If they don’t have the personality or skills for sales, they will not be successful. Sales can be an intimidating job for many, especially those without marketing or closing skills. Help your downlines learn to navigate the sales industry and you will all be successful
