You Cannot Afford to Watch TV if You Are in Network Marketing

You cannot afford to watch TV. Really, you cannot. Do you have any debt? If so, sitting on your butt in front of the boob tube is not going to get you out of your predicament any faster. You can be certain that you are in fact cheating your family out of thousands of dollars in residual income, and a lifetime of fun and freedom! So what will it be ?... the brain numbing telly... or living up to your full potential?

The sad fact is that for many, it will be the telly. In 'the Strangest secret", by Earl Nightingale, it is said that a full 95% of people are content to just get by. Only 5% of us are true entrepreneurs, willing to learn and apply and grow into our full potential. Of the 5% who will become financially independent, only 1% become wildy successful and truly rich.

Where do you see yourself? Do you have a burning desire, huge dreams and an imagination that keeps you awake at night? Or are you sitting on your butt, living vicariously through the characters on the screen. Or worse, letting your beautiful mind be poisoned by the violence and trash that passes for entertainment?

You truly must change your mind before you can change your bank account. One of the most glorious aspects of a network marketing business is that you MUST grow in order to earn. You must change your stinking thinking, you must learn to use the master key.

One of my friends says it this way - "you've got to stop being right if you want to be rich."

In other words, it's time that you listened, learned and applied and simply got down to work.

I know that many of you are out surfing for the 'magic dust' that is going to make your business run on total autopilot so that you don't have to actually work...

Folks, this isn't like your job where you work as little as possible and will get paid regardless. If you treat your network marketing business the same way you do your job, your dreams will continue to be just that. Dreams, wishes, could have beens.

Your business requires massive exposure. That means that each and every day you must work to put more prospects into your pipeline. I'll bet that your upline has given you some ways to get that done? If not, have you gone further upline to find the answers you need? Are there people making money in your company? I'll bet there are, and if you aren't its not the company or the comp plan or your sponsor's fault. It's yours. You need to keep going upline till you find the answers you need. I said the answers you need- not the answers you WANT. The successful people in your upline will tell you what they are doing to succeed. Just DO it. You may have to step out of your comfort zone to begin to make true change in your life. You may need to learn new skills and apply them on a daily basis until you become at least proficient, if not professional.

You didn't buy a lottery ticket, folks. You bought a business. Just because it was cheap, doesn't mean you don't have a million in potential earnings waiting for you.

Get to work. Turn off the tube.

Generate prospects (time)

or

Buy prospects (money)

Connect with them via the phone and use the system your upline has taught you. If the timing isn't right for them, let the system you have in place follow up and keep them in the loop.

How many people should you expose to your biz on a daily basis?

3-5 a day is part time

10 a day is full time

15+ a day is big time.

Have you made that many connections yet today? No? Turn off the tube.

Consistently fill your pipeline and know that this is not a slot machine or a microwave. Your prospects will join when the timing is right for them. That may not be today - but if you stick with your business long enough, you may find that an extraordinary number of them join you sometime down the road.

So are you ready to make this a day of extraordinary change? Just decide, and it is DONE!

If you have just entered the MLM business, you are no doubt looking at doing all the right things in anticipation of the 6-figure income you have been assured of. However, in all your enthusiasm, it is possible to unintentionally do things that may actually harm your MLM business. Most people end up quitting the MLM business because they don’t see the profits. They do not realize that mistakes made by them are in fact, coming in the way of their success. Here is a list of 5 mistakes you need to avoid to make a success out of your MLM business:

  • How you introduce you business to your potential recruits is of utmost importance. You need to approach them from a position of respectability and authority. If you plead with them to join your business or if you spring a surprise at them at a dinner party, they are not likely to accept your invitation.
  • Your leader in the MLM structure is also of prime importance. Granted that you may not be able to choose the person who recruits you into the business, it would be a mistake to not identify a leader that shares your ambition and rise up to a level where you can be under his/her leadership.
  • How you communicate your business strategy to your downline is also very important. If you have not explained what it takes to build a downline and the fact that they may be required to sponsor their recruits, they will not be able to generate any business for you in turn.
  • Although MLM business allows you the comfort of working from your home, you need to ensure that you conduct your business with discipline and consistency. Don’t make the mistake of becoming complacent just because you are not required to be at your office desk from 9 to 5 everyday.
  • One other big mistake you need to avoid is doing favors to help your downline generate business. You need to find motivated, ambitious individuals who are keen on success, not those people who constantly need prodding and pushing to do their business. If you have unmotivated people in your downline, you will find yourself doing them favor and running their errands, so that they can focus on the business.

Types of People Who Are Looking For Opportunities

Remember that people join network marketing companies for their own reasons. However, the character or intention of a person will determine how far they want to go in network marketing and you can usually determine this during your first conversation with a prospect.

Here are classic examples of different types of people.

(1) The Genuine entrepreneurs seeking an opportnity
(2) The Product consumers
(3) The supporters
(4) The junkies
(5) Those suffering from 001 syndrome

Genuine entrepreneurs are the most important people in building a large business. Not all are leaders but leaders are not born, they are developed. This group of people also can be product consumers.

Product consumers are people who join a network marketing and buy from them because they like the product and enjoy the service of their upline. They are the bread and butter of your business. They are not necessarily genuine entrepreneurs or builders, yet for many builders, a lot of their income will come from this group.

The good thing about them is as they learn more about the product, the company and interact more with their upline, their exposure to Network Marketing grows and they might convert to wanting to build a business.

Many of your team members may start off as consumers who just want to experience the benefits your product gives them. Once they shared with people they knew, they started to build a business despite their intentions. This is what word-of-mouth marketing is all about.

The supporters category is quite a mixed match of people. When their close friends or relatives build a network marketing group, they will join under them to support their businesses. However, the consequence of that action varies according to the individual.

For example, I would join my friends organization but it could be purely out of obligation and not for any genuine good reason. This could potentially lead to resentment (when you mix business dealings with friendship), confusion and even loss of friends. Others might even join to see if their friend or relative is involved in a scam to try and pull him or her out.

In order to prevent any potential disaster, make sure your intentions for joining a network marketing are very clear cut. While there is nothing better than helping close friends and family, you don't want them to feel obligated to join your team. You want to share the value of the program you chose and let them join then.

Network marketing junkies are the sort of people who jump from company to company hoping to find their pot of gold. They attend a talk, get hyped up about the opportunity, and build the business on euphoria. Sooner or later, they lose steam and find problems with the company (when the real problem is themselves most of the time) and jump to the next super hot business opportunity.

It is not wrong to be a member of many network marketing companies (depending on your budget). If you are a member of many companies, it is ok to do a good survey and attend trainings, but the key to remember is you must focus on one good network marketing for the long run and the others can operate on a referral basis (like recommending a friend to buy a product from another company while building one main one). Very few people can chase two rabbits.

But there are many good products out there represented by network marketing companies and I encourage you to try them and know the competition as well.

This leads us to one more category of people who could be network marketing junkies as well as those suffering from the 001 syndrome. Basically they want to be the first to start building a business in a brand new start-up. They want to be the pioneer, the first in.

There are many pros and cons to assess about a new company, things such as their background history, financial status and product market rather than just focusing on the income potential. There are many more challenges to be faced for people who are sponsored directly under the company and new companies do not usually have a time-tested workable system in place.

If you fall into one of the above categories (or even some or all of the above), these will give you a general guideline on how to improve your choice selection of network marketing companies and which to join. My hope is you find the right one for you and that you find a mentor to help you be successful.

MLM Training: 29 Characteristics Of An MLM Leader

Having trouble with getting your downline to be motivated, productive and to follow your MLM training guidance and suggestions? Here's 29 proven actions that successful MLM leaders do; written by a leader with a downline of 56,000 people.

1. A network marketing leader doesn't wait until he/she gets a large group before becoming a leader. It can't work that way, because you would never get the large group if you're waiting to be a leader first! Nor does the leader wait until they feel they possess the knowledge to lead; rarely they do. My observation is that leaders select themselves by taking on responsibility (the total reason something happens or doesn't happen), rather than just the desire to lead. Want to be a leader? Go grab enough responsibility that it makes you feel like quitting every day; then don't quit.  Congratulations, that's LEADERSHIP. From that basis there are many other attributes you can develop.

2. At events, the leader arrives early and reserves chairs for their entire group in the front row. Yes, there are normally only two front rows (left and right).  If you're in the 2nd or 3rd row, you're still considered a leader. I spent five years getting up earlier than anyone else to make sure that my group had the front row. What I've found is that there are very rarely more than two leaders in any room; please understand what I mean by this. Once a person gets to a certain level of success, they will stop doing these simple leadership things because of ego. They suddenly become "too knowledgeable" to sit and listen to a speaker that has less time in the MLM business than them. If you remain humble and hungry the world is yours. So is the front row,by the way.

3. A true leader realizes that there is a difference between being a leader and being a leader of people. More on this later.

4. Network marketing "works" under many conditions, but when those relationships between you and your organization become tight and an "esprit de corps" is created, there's nothing like it. I do mean nothing.

5. Appearance is impeccable. Even in jeans.

6. A leader "appears" organized: much like ducks cruising smoothly across the water, however, no one sees or knows how radical and out of control their feet are pedaling.

7. Leaders of people treat their people with respect. Respect means you have a good opinion of their character or ideas. Simply put, you are interested in your people, their ideas, their complaints, their fears, their successes; THEM!

8. As a leader, you develop or find five "Top Producers." Devote yourself to them. Find three qualities that you like about each person. Write those in your day planner. Review them frequently, thinking of how you can help bolster one of those attributes. Bolstering an attribute can be many things: from a good verbal acknowledgement; to giving a telephone headset to someone as a gift who is working hard at making calls; to being their friend when they have a personal crisis.

9. New leaders are let down often by those they devote themselves to. Why? Because you selected the wrong person to devote yourself to. You only get good at character choosing with experience. Track record is really the only place to look first. What has the person been doing with their time; and what does the person do with his or her time? People are what they spend their time doing. Most great leaders begin in a hole and are mad about being there. Of highest concern is whether or not the person has been advancing. If they're not, it might take a lot of work on your part; perhaps more work than you've already been doing. Every person who's ever had the tough decision of choosing between lose two or lose one knows that this is one of the toughest decisions in life. Albeit controversial, do not sink yourself if doing so won't save your mate. Cut away when you feel you're being pulled under. If you help "able" people, they will help more people. If you try to help an unable person, they may sink you on their way down.

10. The network marketing leader organizes MLM training sessions and gets the product or service "specialist" in front of their group; whether it's in person, on a conference call or on an audio or video. Example: your company carries a nutrition line created by Dr. Whoever. He specializes in human nutrition, and created an ingredient that is in your products that is truly unique. The leader will somehow get that doctor on a conference call with his or her group to raise their belief in the products.

11. A network marketing leader always gives "back" more. Example: let's say that there's a foul-up in processing distributor agreements in your downline. You get the distributors on the phone with a customer service rep that handles the situation. You know that that customer service rep really worked hard to help the situation. Yes, it's their job, BUT, the leader will send that customer service rep a bag of M&M's or flowers or something to say "thank you for going above the call of duty." What do you think that customer service rep will do for your group now? Just about anything.

12. The leader climbs the ladder and finds out who the decision makers are at the company, and gets to know them but never bugs them. This is positioning yourself so that opportunity can see you. This is different than you seeing opportunity. Suddenly you find yourself speaking at the convention…hmm, I guess it was just luck. Yeah, right!

13. At the company conventions, the leader will introduce the corporate staff to their organization and vise versa. Even the order takers! Take the time to do this because it creates a sense of belonging for both the corporate staff as well as the distributors. Imagine the difference when a biochemist for a company has met 100 real people with dreams and passions about selling his/her product. Do you think that creates a stronger passion for the biochemist to create better products? Absolutely. All of this "belonging" and "passion" was created because of your leadership.

14. A leader in network marketing is the switchboard of information and communication. They're not "in the loop." They ARE the loop.

15. A leader can always be reached by fax, email and/or phone. Returned communication will occur in less than 24 hours. If that's not a possibility, the message will indicate that it might be longer.

16. A leader never exposes weakness and fear to their organization. Some view me as being "inhuman" or robotic on this. What I mean by this is that the leader must always maintain their certainty about both the business opportunity and the MLM training system. I've never met a person in my life that doesn't have fears and weaknesses. If you've got fears or doubts about your company, get over them or get out. Fly to the company today and get your concerns handled. Come back and be a rock for your group. I guarantee they'll follow you. Conversely, share with them your little uncertainties and they'll be so relieved that you're "human"...and they'll also find another leader to follow.

17. Recognizing that everyone is growing, a leader never invalidates the efforts of anyone in his or her organization. One person brings six guests to a meeting, another brings two, and the third brings none. The leader is able to notice that person number three is there, which might have been a major growth step for them. So instead of criticizing them for not bringing a guest, they praise them for being there.

18. The leader is always searching for and praising something about his or her people. "Little babies love praise, but grown men will die for it." Men in battle will risk their lives for a 1"x1" ribbon they pin onto their shirt above their left chest pocket. They wear this ribbon for the world to see. Forgo praise and you've missed out on the most powerful tool in your leadership arsenal. Praise for things they've yet to do, and you'll create a person who withdraws from the group because you made them a fake.

19. If you share this list with your group, share whose content it is. If you don't, you will also be guilty of the last sentence of item #18: seeking praise, respect, fame, etc. for what you didn't do; makes you feel like a fake.

20. A leader uses and teaches new technologies in their organization; but only if it truly works. Don't drive your organization down dead ends.

21. Leaders are ethical examples. If you "sneak" your people past the registration table, you've just ruined their perception of you. They can never trust you and they shouldn't. You've got one shot at doing this right.

22. A leader creates alliances with needed national and international (if applicable) groups to ensure their group has support and representation. If no group exists, build it.

23. Leaders are more concerned about the growth of their people than the growth of their bonus check. Focus on the growth of your people; your bonus check will take care of itself.

24. A leader never says what they can get others to say. Example: my company calls and says, "We'd like you to speak at the company convention." I accept graciously and then ask "Would it be possible for me to include a new leader named _________? They're a good speaker and I would love to share the stage with them." See, a leader wants his or her people to be leaders.

25. A leader never, ever speaks ill of anyone; even if they deserve it.

26. A leader acknowledges other leaders in the room. "We are honored to have in the room with us Mrs. 77. She conducts business meetings in the 44 area."

27. A leader doesn't get bent out of shape because they don't get a return phone call from the corporate office; or the upline! More than once I've sent pizza to a department with special instructions to the delivery person telling them to say, "This pizza has already been paid for by Tim Sales. He asks only that after enjoying the pizza that you call him at 555-3797." Everyone laughs and guess what? You get a phone call with the right tone in their voice for getting something done. Anyone can complain; they're used to that. A leader finds amusement in creating more effective forms of communication.

28. A leader has a crystal clear vision about their network marketing company and where they're taking it. If the company doesn't have something, they don't complain, they figure out how to convince the company to get it.

29. A leader, after reviewing this list, will print it out and do at least one item everyday.

Three Strategies Used by Every Leader to Keep Downlines Happy and Gain Long Term Residual Income

Growing your own MLM marketing business can be a frustrating endeavor.  This can be especially true when you find yourself at the beck and call of your parent company, doing all that they demand of you.  Sooner or later you find out that this method does not work whatsoever.  The following tips will be essential for you to help grow your MLM online business the easy way.

It is vitally important to know all about the products and services that are in your MLM business.  This is the true way to be able to help your downline grow successfully.  By understanding all that is involved with your products and services, you will be able to understand why people would want to purchase what you are selling in your online MLM business.  Full and comprehensive understanding of your product will also make it easier for you to find the right people for you MLM online business when they ask questions or show interest in your products or organization.

For example, if you are marketing a weight loss program, your target prospects or audience will be people who are interested in losing weight.  Or if you are market auto services, your target audience will be those who wish to purchase services for their automobiles.

An effective system is also a very important aspect in the growth of your MLM downline.  Whether or not you will be able to grow your MLM marketing business will be decided by whether or not your have an effective system.  Finding the right people and attracting them to you and your MLM business should be easier if your system has been set up effectively.

A person who wants to ensure that his MLM business will grow to the greatest levels must be very familiar with the telephone and the process of calling people, both one on one and conference calling.  Being able to speak with prospects and people who are interested in your product or service is the most crucial element in making sure your MLM business is successful.  When there are prospects who want to speak with you about your products or services, then a growing business becomes much easier to develop and maintain.  For example, if you spoke with twenty people a day with the intent of getting at least five of those people to become interested in your products or services, that is twenty-five new people a week into your business.

Being an excellent writer is a very good way to get people interested in what you are selling.  It would be better to enroll people into your business without having to meet them one on one and speak with them individually.  You can extrapolate that by being able to reach many people and give them all the information they need to draw their interest.  That can be done by using articles or blogs, but excellent writing skills will be a total necessity for this to work.  Nobody is going to read your pitch if you can’t spell or use grammar correctly.  If you can’t describe what you’re trying to sell, how will anyone be convinced to buy it?

If you haven’t noticed, the world is going all topsy-turvy. Every day, the newspapers are dominated by headlines of how one big company or other is suffering huge losses and preparing for the worst.
